14k Gold Fill means there are 14 layers of actual gold heat pressured on to a brass core which prevents it from ever tarnishing!
Please do not confuse 14k Fill with Gold Plated. GP is merely one single, dipped layer of gold on to brass. This is why your $35 necklace turns brown or copper when you get it wet or wear it a few times.
